I thought this article wrapped up some of the major themes of our class -- why companies find social media so hard to take on, and what are the important things to keep in mind -- like listening, staying nimble, and being willing to fail.

Kat, great article. I think it is correct in that companies want a cookie cutter approach. In reality, I have been thinking about how social media despite all it's technology actually takes a lot of work. An organization can have the fanciest monitoring tools in the world but they need an actual person to read blogs and follow conversations on Twitter and Facebook every single day 24/7. And then analyze it and then create content - it is a relentless cycle. Only the companies that do this can truly succeed though.
Agreed, definitely like this article for being simple and for being right! To Prof. Kumar's point, my job has now evolved into such a 24/7 listening/monitoring/responding role. BUT, on Wednesday when I had time to do it full time, I received more clicks and re-tweets on Twitter than ever before! Going to check on web site hits and other metrics later, but it seems that it can make a difference!
