Is the world changing media or media changing the world?

Honestly, I have been struggling with getting used to such a fast-paced world driven by social media. New things pop up within a short time frame, if not every day. There is no doubt that Facebook has become one of the world’s most famous social networking websites. And now, new tools are invented to monitor the most popular content shared on Facebook.

The Facebook team created the Open Graph protocol that helps to integrate individual’s Facebook Web page into the social graph. And then, a website called ItsTrending.com came out. Different from other content sharing websites like digg.com where popularity of content is decided by viewers’ votes, ItsTrending.com “collects all of the content shared via Open Graph, and ranks it by the number of times it has been shared.” It is said that this ranking should be less biased than digg.com.
