Two sites that aren't on the list that are particularly good for gauging issue salience (or brand recognition?):

1) http://www.trendistic.com

2) http://www.google.com/insights/search/#

The former lets you track the ebb and flow of keyword usage on twitter, for up to 180 days. It lets you answer questions about when your issue/candidate/brand/etc. was most talked about, and then displays the tweets during the specified time period. Trendistic might be particularly useful for crisis research.

The latter lets you track how often Google users search for your specified terms. Google Insights for Search is particularly useful for comparing keywords and issues, and allows you to drill down to specific locales.

Anyway, they're both excellent, and I highly recommend them!
